The three formats that matter
PNG for sharp screenshots and transparency, JPG for photos that must open anywhere, WebP for small files on the web.
Free image tool
Switch an image to PNG, JPG or WebP in one click, with control over quality and how transparent areas are filled.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
Why use it
PNG for sharp screenshots and transparency, JPG for photos that must open anywhere, WebP for small files on the web.
A quality slider lets you balance file size against detail for JPG and WebP.
JPG has no transparency, so you choose the colour that fills see-through areas instead of getting black edges.
The conversion runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded or stored anywhere.
How to
Drop, choose or paste an image.
Pick PNG, JPG or WebP.
Adjust quality or the background colour if shown.
Convert and download the new file.
Good to know
PNG is lossless and supports transparency, which makes it ideal for screenshots, UI and logos. JPG compresses photos well but blurs sharp text and has no transparency. WebP does both lossy and lossless compression with transparency, and is usually the smallest choice for websites.
FAQ
Yes. PNG keeps every pixel. Converting a JPG to PNG will not restore detail the JPG already lost, though.
JPG and WebP at lower quality settings throw away fine detail to save space. Raise the quality slider if you notice artefacts around text.
Some browsers, including older versions of Safari, cannot write WebP files. The tool tells you when this happens; Chrome, Edge and Firefox all support it.
No. The image never leaves your browser.
